At
five years old, Lee sang her first solo in church. With her
cousin Steve joining her on the chorus of 'Learning to Lean' for
support, Lee's butterflies took flight and she was bit by the performance
bug! Lee grew up singing in the church choir, in show choirs,
talent shows and pageants.
Today,
Lee sings every chance she gets. Music is her true love!
But in addition to singing, lee's job keeps her pretty busy!
She is an Emmy nominated journalist who anchors the morning and
noon news for WAFF 48 News, the NBC affiliate in Huntsville, Alabama
and for WDRM radio.
Lee's
job as a journalist is to report the facts, but it is her passion
as a former foster/adopted child to be the voice for Waiting Children.
She
is the founder of the 'Kids
to Love' Foundation, a non-profit agency that meets the needs
of foster and adoptive children. Her 'Kids
to Love' Program on WAFF 48 News has introduced 165 foster children
that need forever families, out of 165 - 135 have found forever
families!
Lee
not only tells the stories that will make a difference, she takes
action! When Lee found out children in foster care have to
move their things in black garbage bags because they don't have
suitcases, she challenged viewers across Northern Alabama and Southern
Tennessee to help. The goal was 1,000 suitcases
4,000
plus were collected.
'Kids
to Love' is not just another story to Lee, it's her heart.
As a former foster child herself, Lee feels blessed that she was
placed with a forever family early in her life. It's her desire
that she will be the voice for other foster children so they can
have stability, love and possibilities that children have through
adoption - a forever family.
Lee
believes in giving back, adopted through the Tennessee Baptist Children's
Home in Memphis, Lee has organized a benefit concert "Tribute
to the Children". In the last 2 years the event has raised
more than $46,000 for foster and adoptive children.
Lee
recently received National Recognition in Washington, D.C. for her
adoption awareness efforts. She received an Adoption Excellence
award from the Department of Health and Human Services.
Originally
from South Fulton, Tennessee, Lee and her husband Jeff now call
Huntsville home.
